More than £7,000 was awarded to individuals and clubs across the North East following another round of successful grant applications

Boxer Bobbylee Burns was awarded a Sport Newcastle grant worth £500
Individuals and clubs from across the North East have shared more than £7,000 as a result of successful grant applications.
Sport Newcastle meets four times a year to distribute funds regionwide.
And our autumn meeting saw funds awarded to athletes competing in a broad range of sports including Roller Derby, karate, netball and gymnastics.
The following grant applications were successful:
Bronze Awards (£250)
Edward Gardiner (18) and Will de Vere Owen (18) - athletics (Morpeth Harriers)
Esme Kate Laws (16) and Izzy Mines (16) - Roller Derby (Newcastle Junior Roller Derby Club)
Silver Awards (£500)
Susan Folorunso (20) – athletics (Gateshead Harriers)
Bobbylee Burns (22) – boxing (Kenton A.B.C.)
James Harrison (21) – karate (Kensho Karate Club)
Gold Award (£1,000)
Sam Ogle (16) - coaching qualification disability support (Newcastle Falcons).
Club Grants:
City of Newcastle Gymnastics Club (£1000) – for a team of four to attend the European TeamGym championships in Baku.
City of Newcastle Gymnastics Club (£650) – training course for 15 new volunteers.
Welcome to Badminton (£500) – to run introductory courses for asylum seekers/refugees.
Kenton A.B.C. (£500) – to provide ‘hardship’ support to provide reduced fees for those identified in need of financial support.
Seatonians Netball Club (£650) – to fund Safeguarding and First Aid courses for volunteer helpers.
Gosforth Rugby (£500) – to ‘kickstart’ a project to introduce local primary pupils to rugby union.
The next round of grant applications will be considered at our Awards Committee meeting on Monday November 25.
