Unsung Hero Award

The Sport Newcastle Unsung Hero Awards 2026 celebrate the volunteers, coaches, officials and community champions who make sport happen across our region.

Behind every club and every success story, there are people giving their time, energy and passion without recognition. These are the individuals who keep clubs running, inspire others to take part and create opportunities for people of all ages to enjoy sport.

They are the lifeblood of local sport. Without them, many clubs would not exist and countless young people would miss out.

The next awards take place on Thursday 11 June 2026, 6.30pm to 9.00pm at Kingston Park Stadium, bringing together the very best of our region for an evening of celebration and recognition.

We are looking for individuals who go above and beyond. Whether they are a volunteer, coach, organiser or community champion, if they have made a real difference through sport, we want to hear their story.

Everyone knows someone who deserves recognition. The one who never misses a session. The one who lifts others up. The one who makes sport possible.

Nominations are open to anyone who has seen their impact, from club members and parents to players. It only takes a few minutes, but it could mean everything to someone who has given so much.
