Blyth Running Club’s Luke Pilcher is on track for another successful year as the multi-disciplinary athlete continues to set the pace for youth athletics.

Sport Newcastle has followed up on its bronze award for the King’s Tynemouth pupil with a richly deserved silver award.

Last season saw Luke win medals in five different sports — bagging Combined Events gold at the English Schools Championships before adding silver in the same event at the English National Championships.

“Luke has consistently competed at a very high level for a number of years now,” said his coach. “He is an important role model for our younger athletes.”

The England international continues to be a valued member of the Sport Newcastle community after clinching a Rising Star award in 2022.

And the charity’s Matthew Squires said: “We’re proud to be a part of Luke’s exciting athletics journey. It looks like 2024 has a lot more to offer.”
