Individuals and clubs from across the North East share more than £6,000 as a result of successful grant applications

Individuals and clubs from across the North East have shared more than £6,000 as a result of successful grant applications.

Sport Newcastle meets four times a year to distribute funds regionwide.

And June's meeting saw funds awarded to athletes competing in a broad range of sports including Rugby League, taekwondo and goalball.

The following grant applications were successful:

Bronze Award Winners (£250)

Matthew Rolls (age 16) – Rugby League - Gateshead Storm – lives Whitley Bay.

Elijah Hylton (age 15) – Rugby League – Gateshead Storm – lives Gateshead.

Skye Marshall (age 14) – Athletics - Gateshead Harriers – lives Jarrow.

Christian Matheson (age 15) – Swimming – Newcastle Swim Team – lives South Shields. 

Silver Award Winners (£500)

Jay Pringle (age 15) – England Taekwondo – lives Gateshead.

Neve Orrick (age 16) - England Taekwondo – lives Rowlands Gill.

Evelyn Hallisey (age 15) – Swimming – Newcastle Swim Team – lives Ponteland.

Elizabeth Land (age 14) - Swimming – Newcastle Swim Team – lives Belsay.

Niamh Savory (age 16) - Swimming – Newcastle Swim Team – lives Wallsend.

Jack Helm (age 15) – Team Gym – N. E. Gymnastics Academy – lives Blucher

Club Grants

Tyneside Gymnastics Academy (£570) – to support costs of two Level 1 coaching awards.

Northern Allstars Goalball (£750) — to assist travel costs for volunteers who support and collect visually impaired players and to fund additional coaching sessions.

Inclusion Sports Foundation (£750) — to put on a series of drop-in football sessions for ‘hard to reach’ male and female potential players.
